Flora Teran
I was born in Catavi, a mining town in the highlands of Bolivia where I became a teacher and taught in both rural and urban schools. In 1976, I moved to the U.S. and since then I have lived in Fort Collins, Colorado where I raised my three children. I returned to school to ratify my teaching credentials. Later, I earned my Masters of Arts. I have taught all levels of education, from Preschool to University, as well as Adult Education.
I have always dedicated my efforts to bettering my community through teaching and different kinds of volunteer work, including work with international students at the University. As a mother, I volunteer at my children’s schools, and I work extensively with immigration issues. I translate locally and internationally. I traveled to the jungle of Peru as a volunteer translator and facilitator with Village Earth in a workshop on Sustainable Development with Shipibo communities.
I welcome future challenges.
