Tai Power Seeff
I grew up in the canyons of Los Angeles, CA and at age 17 moved to New York City where I studied Photography, Anthropology, and Cinematography at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. During my junior year, I spent a semester aboard a ship with Semester at Sea, and after visiting thirteen countries in 100 days my passion for travel photography was born.
Since then, I have traveled and lived around the world, and these experiences, coupled with the creative influence of my father, photographer/filmmaker Norman Seeff, have further inspired my current career as a travel and portrait photographer.
I have been fortunate to have my work featured in various publications, including National Geographic Traveler, Benetton’s Colors Magazine, Rolling Stone, O (The Oprah Magazine), and the Anthropologie Catalog. I was recently featured as a “Green” Photographer by American Photo Magazine, and have just completed a solo road trip throughout Northern California shooting the Official 2009 California Visitor’s Guide. I am currently based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, and am represented by Getty Images.
An environmentalist from an early age, my interests in Permaculture, organic and sustainable agriculture, and alternative building methods were made tangible when my mother and siblings moved to a 236 acre farm in the Amish area of Vernon County (the hilly “Driftless” region of Southwestern Wisconsin), reputed to be the most “organic” county in the US by the locally based Organic Valley.
Discovering Pun Pun through a chance encounter with an old friend at the New Delhi airport, I was immediately drawn to this like-minded community, and within a couple months, I was sharing ideas and working alongside this intelligent, conscious, and assiduous group of people. It has truly been a seminal experience, and a powerful antidote to the often bleak and overwhelming feelings of helplessness in the face of such widespread environmental degradation.
